Dark Noise 3.3 with support for iOS 18 is now released on the App Store.
From the beginning, Dark Noise has been designed to quickly let users start an ambient soundscape and get back to their life. Deep integrations with iOS such as Shortcuts, home and lock screen widgets, and Siri have all been in service of this goal. Many daily users haven’t opened the app completely in months!
Control Center Widgets
With iOS 18, Dark Noise is continuing that legacy with support for the new Control Center widgets. Users can now add a widget to their control center to toggle a sound of thier choosing. When adding a widget, they’ll be presented with a few configuration options.
Users can optionally set a timer to automatically stop their sound after a certain duration or at a particular time. The long fade option will slowly fade the sound over a long period of time to prevent the sudden stop from waking someone up.

Dark and Tinted App Icons
In addition to Control Center widgets, Dark Noise 3.3 also adds dark and tint mode icons to all of the large selection of alternate app icons Dark Noise offers.

My biggest Mac request for forever has been a menu bar app but that’s been really difficult for technical reasons, but now I can build a Now Playing widget that gets pretty close to that experience! pic.twitter.com/5IrDvAXDoS

What’s New:
There is a brand new Green Noise sound that provides an endless ambient noise in the same frequency ranges as nature.
A new “Classics” section has been added to the noise selection view with some of the original sounds before they were remastered. This will include sounds that are more dramatically changed whenever a remaster replaces them so that people who prefer the original sound can still use them.
On iOS, 3 new alternate app icons were added with the original flat icon design called “1.0 Purple”, “1.0 Black”, and “1.0 White”.

Along with iCloud syncing, new sounds, new icons, and loads of bug fixes this is the biggest update to date.
